Carmelo Pistorio, Founder and Managing Partner of Upstream Ventures, has over 15 years international entrepreneurial experience across multiple high-tech industries including software, semiconductors, and environmental systems and solutions. His operational experience spans all stages of a startup: he has held positions ranging from founder and investor to senior executive for operations, and has served on the boards of a number of companies across Europe and Asia. The vision of Upstream Ventures is built on Carmelo’s extensive experience as an Angel investor.

He currently serves as a Committee Member of the SVCA (Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association) and as a panel member of both TEC (The Enterprise Challenge) which responds to the Prime Minister’s Office, and SPRING Singapore's TECS (Technology Enterprise Commercialisation Scheme). He is also a director on the board of the ICCS (Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore) and serves on the board of the Pistorio Foundation , a charitable foundation founded by his father Pasquale Pistorio. Carmelo serves on the boards of Upstream Ventures’ core portfolio companies including XID Technologies Pte. Ltd.

Carmelo earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and History from Tufts University in Boston, MA, USA.

Co-Founder and Partner of Upstream Ventures, Pierre has over 5 years experience in VC and new venture creation across Asia, supported by 8 years of international corporate and startup experience. He has worked as an IT consultant to the financial services industry with Accenture in New York City, and as a private strategic consultant in Europe and the US for companies across various sectors including internet and new media, mobile communications, real-estate, and the arts. Pierre also worked extensively throughout Russia with the Deloitte Touche ILA Group  to stimulate regional economic growth and investment through the commercialization of local emergent technologies. Prior to Upstream Ventures, he held the position of Director of Marketing for a Brussels-based B2B e-procurement startup. Pierre currently serves on the board of several Upstream Ventures portfolio companies including Mikoishi Pte. Ltd. and Tagit Pte. Ltd., and is a frequent guest speaker, lecturer and business plan judge at industry events and universities such as INSEAD, SMU, NUS and NTU.

Pierre earned a B.A. with Honors in International Relations from Boston University, and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business. He also studied at the Hochschule St. Gallen in St. Gallen, Switzerland as part of NYU’s International Management Program.

Pierre serves as Deputy Chairman of BANSEA (Business Angels Network of Southeast Asia), is a Charter Member of TiE Singapore, is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors, and is the head of the NYU Stern Alumni Group in Singapore. He speaks seven languages, serves as a Committee Member of the Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Gregory the Illuminator Singapore, and is a member of the Singapore Lyric Opera Choir. He is also a member of the Board of International Human Benefit Services , a non-profit organization created to relieve educational and health-care needs in rural India.
